About the Spotted handfish

The spotted handfish (Brachionichthys hirsutus), is critically endangered and only found in Tasmania’s coastal waters. Found typically in shallow, sheltered areas with sandy or silty bottom. The spotted handfish has a distinctive walking behaviour, where it uses its pectoral fins like hands to "walk" along the seabed.

Design and Colour Therapy

Originating from Benni’s own image of the spotted handfish are two designs "Subtle Beauty" and "Timeless"

Subtle Beauty features a delicate design from the fin area with mauve tones and pops of burgundy

Mauve: Often associated with reflection, spirituality, and emotional healing. It’s a gentle colour that can promote calmness and a sense of inner peace.
Burgundy: Represents richness and depth. It can evoke feelings of strength and passion. This colour is often linked to determination and helps bring a sense of stability and empowerment.

Together, the combination of mauve and burgundy in "Subtle Beauty" can create a balanced sense of gentle reflection paired with grounded passion.

Timeless features neutral Tones and originates from the main body area of the fish.

Neutral Tones (Beige, Taupe, Soft Greys): These are associated with simplicity, timelessness, and calmness. Neutral colours promote a sense of relaxation, balance, and minimalism. They don’t overwhelm the senses and can create a peaceful environment, encouraging focus and clarity.

The colours in this design offers a calm, quiet elegance perfect for creating a peaceful space.
